Homecoming Week

This week definitely flew by! We were in the Winter Homecoming week, when the students dress-up according to differnt themes. So, it's also called "Spirit Week". On Friday, we had a basketball game (Knights X WildCats) with cheerleaders and the Lip-sync,also called miming, where some students and the teachers pretend to be actors or singers. It was awesome!!! The school band is huge and beautiful. There were boys dancing Single Ladies (a song by the american singer Beyonce), a girl dancing Michael Jackson perfectly, a big teacher trying to sing and dance like Chris Brown (an american hip hop singer) and so on...
Comments:
This week I ate american ice cream(so good!!!).
Here I see squirrels and crows everywhere.
Most of my classmates think brasilians speak spanish, and many of them don't know we are south-americans.
It's a lot more common to see people with light eyes, so it is the opposite of Brazil!

The journey continues...

I passed all my Sunday in Indianapolis at my "grandparents" house. When I woke up, it was hard to belive what I was seeing...

Ice on the window...
-20 Celsius degrees

My grandpa got baptized and I went to Terre Haute in the end of the day, it`s a beautiful city!

Well...
During the morning, I study three hours at Northview High School, which is located in Brazil, Indiana. I'm attending Algebra II, US History and Cooking classes (I do have to learn how to cook, that's my chance!). It really is like those american schools we see in the movies...large school, lots of students and 4 minutes to go to your locker, take your books, and change from one class to another (each teacher has his own classroom).
During the afternoon, I go to John Paul Catholic School, where Rayna teaches English. It's a small, but nice school. There I'm taking American Literature, Latin, and English classes. My classmates are friendly and fun...I have already gone to the school team basketball game...

Jessie, Elizabeth, Morgan and I. Let`s go crusaders!!! *\o/*

Oh...I went sledding with Rayna! It was so much fun!!!

My hands were freezing...I had forgotten my gloves!

We met Tassier there...he was a cute competitive boy!

Saturday, 09/01/10

Finally I am in the US, my luggage arrived just on Saturday night though! It was such a good trip, we didn't get lost in the airport and the authorities wasn't severe during our pass through immigration and customs.
When we arrived in the Indianapolis airport, we met Leslie and Jhani. Then, we went right to Cracker Barrel to have breakfast. I ate the well-known blackberry pancake with maple syrup...it was amazing! After that, we went to Jhani's house and had a great time - we played with the snow, listened to Leslie, had hot chocolate with marshmallows...and met our host family!!!

You can see I was tired, but everything pays off!

So cold! These are not the snow balls, but we made them!

Mari and I...before metting our family!

Rayna White, my host mother! She is a wonderful woman...I was really nervous before meeting her! Her mother was with her. My host father, Steve White, couldn't come because he was working.
